Learn to Bundle Dye + Expand Your Palette with Color Modifiers

  • Stanton Heights Pittsburgh, PA United States (map)

The sunny season is upon us! Join me in my home studio for a hands-on bundle dye workshop where we’ll transform the garden’s bounty into beautiful, wearable art while indulging in homemade, seasonal snacks! You’ll create your own sun hat (or choose a bucket hat, tote, or bandana) using botanical impressions while exploring how simple pH shifts can dramatically expand your color palette!

In this workshop, you will learn:

  • How different fibers influence color outcomes

  • How to prepare different fabrics to receive and retain color (mordanting)

  • A variety of dye plants to grow in your garden

  • Techniques for folding and binding your bundles

  • How to modify your colors using pH shifts and iron

  • How to care for your naturally dyed piece

You’ll leave with a stunning one-of-a-kind piece and a detailed project packet to help you continue experimenting at home.

All materials, snacks, and beverages will be provided. You’re also welcome to bring your own flowers or plant materials if you would like to incorporate something personal.

No prior experience is needed. All are welcome!

Space is limited. Registration closes on April 10 (or when we reach capacity).

I look forward to creating with you!
~Kelly
